Heavy Equipment Operator

Position Description

Spillane’s Nursery & Landscape Co. Inc. seeks a full-time experienced Heavy Equipment Operator. The ideal candidate must hold a current Hoisting/Hydraulics License (2A/1C) as well as a CDL-A and be able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Perform pre and post-operation inspection of the equipment and trucks.
  • Safely and efficiently operate equipment that may include: backhoe, skid steer, excavator, bulldozer, loader and other equipment using proper safety standards.
  • Continuously monitor the condition of the equipment to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time.
  • Load and unload equipment from vehicles and trailers.
  • Follow applicable safety rules, regulations, guidelines and policie
Position Requirements
  • A valid Massachusetts Hoisting/Hydraulic License (2A/1C)
  • A valid Massachusetts Drivers License (CDL A or B preferred)
  • Current DOT qualifications
  • Pass a drug screen as a condition of employment

Landscape Laborer

Position Description

Spillane’s Nursery & Landscape, Inc. is seeking Landscape Construction Laborers who will welcome the challenges and opportunities offered by a very busy and reputable landscape company in Middleboro. This is a full-time seasonal position with Saturday work required during the busy season.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and ecologically compliant work site
  • Carries out work plans and schedules established by the Landscape Construction Foreman and Project Manager
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Maintain high quality workmanship standards
  • Works well with a team
  • Maintains good relations with the customers at the job sites and keeps the Landscape Construction Foreman informed about customer interactions

Mason

Position Description

Spillane’s Nursery & Landscape is seeking experienced mason professionals to work on our projects with knowledge in retaining walls, walkways, patios, stone veneer, blue stone and stone work. We work with both residential and commercial customers.

Must have the ability to perform, and experience with, the following job functions:

  • Supervise and work with multiple crews daily
  • Maintain high standard of quality while maintaining safe work habits
  • Must be able to supervise, instruct, and objectively evaluate the performance of workers and subcontractors.
  • Ability to understand blue prints, drawings, building codes, and other various tools and forms of communications used on landscaping job sites.
  • Must have sufficient knowledge or materials, equipment operation, and tools commonly used in hardscape daily activities.

Landscape Construction Foreman

Position Description

Spillane’s Nursery & Landscape, Inc. is seeking experienced Landscape Construction Foremen to plan, direct, and coordinate the day-to-day activities at our job sites. This is a full-time seasonal position with opportunities to participate in providing snow and ice management services during the winter.
Must have the ability to perform, and experience with, the following job functions:

  • Supervise and work with multiple crews daily.
  • Maintain high standard of quality while maintaining safe work habits.
  • Residential and Commercial snow and ice responsibilities
  • Ability to understand blue prints, drawings, building codes, and other various tools and forms of communications used on landscaping job sites.
  • Ability to run heavy equipment.
  • Must have sufficient knowledge or materials, equipment operation, and tools commonly used in landscape daily activities
  • Strong leadership skills as well as being able to communicate effectively with management, customers, employees, and other miscellaneous personalities that may visit the site from time to time.
  • Must be a self-starting, take-charge individual with strong motivation and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to motive, train, and monitor the employees by maintaining company guidelines and insuring that these standards of performance are met at all times.
  • Must be able to supervise, instruct, and objectively evaluate the performance of workers and subcontractors.
Position Requirements

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in landscape construction
Valid CDL drivers’ license and clean driving record

Hoisting License – Class 2A
DOT medical card
Ability to drive truck/trailer unit safely
Ability to work necessary hours to complete assigned work
Dependable, punctual, team oriented
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Background check and pre-employment drug test required
